Tina’s Teaching Background: Tina has experience with a number of teaching methods and syllabi including Australia and New Zealand Cultural Arts (ANZCA) Australian Music Examination Board (AMEB) – classical, leisure and contemporary popular music, Suzuki Method and Forte School of Music courses. Over the years she has conducted private lessons as well as group lessons of up to eight students in a class. Tina’s exam students across the years have consistently achieved an Honours result. She aims to prepare all students beyond the minimum requirements or expectations so that the exam becomes a positive and fulfilling experience of setting and achieving a goal.
Tina’s Musical Background: Tina’s own background began as an enthusiastic 4 year old learning keyboard and then organ on the north-side of Brisbane. She progressed to the piano at age 8 years and studied both practical piano and theory for both ANZCA (modern pianoforte) and AMEB (classical pianoforte) exams under the direction of Eileen Sutton. Tina went on to complete a Bachelor of Music (BMus) in composition under the direction of Stephen Leek, from the Queensland Conservatorium of Music in 2000 and was awarded an Associate Diploma of Music Australia (AMusA) under the direction of Jenni Flemming, from the AMEB in 2003. She was awarded a certificate of distinction for a high grade point average in her final year at the Conservatorium as well as the Australian Voices Young Composer 2000.
Free 30 minute Introductory Lesson: Tina teaches private piano (modern and classical), beginner keyboard/musicianship classes, theory, beginner song-writing and composition. She offers a Free Introductory Lesson so that new students are able to meet with her to discuss their musical goals and aspirations and to get a feel for her teaching style and personality; all of which are very important in the teacher-student relationship.
